Sunset at the Wharf

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Several years ago, I visited San Francisco with my brother, sister-in-law and their 5 year old little girl.  My little niece asked, “Where are we going?” “Fisherman’s Wharf,” her mom replied. As we approached the wharf in our car, the air was ripe with the smell of fish. My niece wrinkled her nose and with disgust in voice said, “The fisherman’s wife sure stinks!”

I think of that story eveytime I visit the wharf….

“Games”

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Here is my entry for the Geographic Composition theme “Games”. I took it San Francisco on Fisherman’s Wharf. On our recent visit, we discovered a museum filled with all these old mechanical games – it was pretty cool. I think this arm wrestling game is the same one that Julie Andrews wrestled with in The Princess Diaries. My girls may never wash their hands again…hmmmm.

Make sure to take a look at the other Geographic Composition entries!

SF Sunset

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Here’s another from our trip to the City. This one taken about an hour before Sunset near the Maritime Museum. The Golden Gate Bridge is in the background. Not seen in this picture are the families and couples that have gathered to see the sun go down. It’s peaceful.

San Francisco Sunset

Shot Details:
ISO 1000, f/13, 1/1000 sec
I wished I’d dropped the ISO a little but forgot =(.
It’s still a nice image that recalls for me an even better memory.

In Lightroom:
Used the healing tool on a few dirt spots from lens. That’s it.
