Your Story Matters

A couple of weeks ago my family went to the 2010 Special Olympic Summer Games to hang out with our good friends and watch our pal Nolan swim.

I’ve known Lauren since she was in elementary school. She’s beautiful…sensitive…she shines…and she has a billion dollar smile that lights up the world. I haven’t known Kyle for very long but I consider him to be a friend already. He is strong…gentle…adventurous…and brilliant. I so enjoy spending time with these two. It’s evident that they love each other deeply.

Two weeks ago we spent the morning in Old Sacramento together creating their engagement photos. Take a look…

This morning I visited with Melanie and Dan. They shared with me how they met and about how they were good friends long before the romance. You’ve heard of  relationship chemistry? Well, these two definitely have it.  As I listened to their story, I noticed how comfortable they were with each another. When one of them was talking, the other was genuinely listening. When Melanie speaks of Dan, her eyes twinkle…she can’t help but smile. And Dan…he is smitten….totally head over heals in love with Melanie just as she is for him. Something else I noticed: these two truly respect and appreciate each other…and they are grateful. They are so thankful that God has brought them together. Oh, by the way, you can’t spend two minutes with these two without hearing laughter and lots of it. I think that’s what a thankful, loved heart does…it laughs.

Ellie is graduating in less than a month.  And, I’m pretty sure she’s happy about that. Something else I’m pretty sure about…Ellie. I’ve know her for several years and she is amazing…and adventurous….and athletic….and intuitive….and independent….and friendly….and  loves to laugh…and is a great friend with great friends. A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of hanging out with Ellie and her two best friends, Danni and Anja. Danni and Anja are pretty amazing, too.
