She’s beautiful…sensitive…she shines…and she has a billion dollar smile that lights up the world. I haven’t known Kyle for very long but I consider him to be a friend already. He is strong…gentle…adventurous…and brilliant. I so enjoy spending time with these two. It’s evident that they love each other deeply.

Two weeks ago we spent the morning in Old Sacramento together creating their engagement photos. Take a look…

They shared with me how they met and about how they were good friends long before the romance. You’ve heard of  relationship chemistry? Well, these two definitely have it.  As I listened to their story, I noticed how comfortable they were with each another. When one of them was talking, the other was genuinely listening. When Melanie speaks of Dan, her eyes twinkle…she can’t help but smile. And Dan…he is smitten….totally head over heals in love with Melanie just as she is for him. Something else I noticed: these two truly respect and appreciate each other…and they are grateful. They are so thankful that God has brought them together. Oh, by the way, you can’t spend two minutes with these two without hearing laughter and lots of it. I think that’s what a thankful, loved heart does…it laughs.

Earlier this month we met together for an engagement shoot. Here are a couple photos from our time and a video:

(This was carved into a large rock at Mount Diablo. I find it fascinating that people carve their names on trees, boulders, picnic tables, etc. It's like they are saying, "I was here. I matter.")

On February 19, 1973, I was 7 years old probably looking forward to my upcoming 8th birthday that was only 7 days away. At the time, I think my family had recently moved to Garland, Texas from Ponce, Puerto Rico.  I was the goalie for our soccer team, the Eastgate Gators. My mom was the coach.  Living in Texas was a fun time for me. I have good memories of playing outside a lot with my best buddies, Anne and her brother Howard.

Yesterday I had such a great time in Old Town Auburn with Jessica & Mike. We went up to play a little and grab some fun engagement photos. It was so fun just being with these two and learning a bit more of their story.  I love how they build each other up and how comfortable they are together.
