Two Bridges

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

I took this on one of our many recent smoke filled days this summer. The smoke was so thick that evening it was like a low fog settling in the hills.

Two historic Folsom bridges: the old truss bridge (1893) and the “newer” Rainbow Bridge (1917)

Path to Heaven

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

“..Of course! The path to heaven
doesn’t lie down in flat miles.
It’s in the imagination
with which you perceive
this world,
and the gestures
with which you honor it…”
Mary Oliver, poet

I really have no idea what this quote means but for some reason it really moves me. What do you think?

A Seagull, Solitude and Sabbath

Seagull, Solitude & Sabbath

“In a culture where busyness is a fetish and stillness is lazyness, rest is sloth. But without rest, we miss the rest of God: the rest he invites us to enter more fully so that we might know him more deeply. ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ Some knowing is never pursued, only received. And for that, you need to be still.” Mark Buchanan, The Rest of God: Restoring Your Soul by Restoring Sabbath

Hurry means…

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

“Hurry means that we gather impressions but have no experiences, that we collect acquaintances but make no friends, that we attend meetings but experience no encounter. We must recover eternity if we are to find time, and eternity is what Jesus came to restore. For without it, there can be no charity.” – D. T. Niles

What do you think?

Here’s an “Unhurried Moment”…children seem to know how to live in the moment. This little guy is watching his family fly kites – he’s just taking it all in.
